Prioritizing Mental Health Is A Part of Self-Sufficiency

At BOSS, our mission extends beyond providing immediate support and resources to individuals and families facing deep poverty and systemic inequity. We recognize the critical importance of mental health in empowering individuals to achieve lasting self-sufficiency.

At BOSS, we firmly believe that self-sufficiency encompasses more than financial stability. It includes nurturing holistic well-being, which includes mental and emotional health. Through our programs, we strive to create an environment that fosters mental wellness, providing the necessary resources and support to help individuals overcome trauma, manage stress, and build resilience. By addressing mental health, we empower individuals to navigate the challenges they face with greater strength and clarity.

Integrated Support Services: BOSS understands that mental health is interconnected with other aspects of an individual's life. Our case managers and support staff work collaboratively with mental health professionals to offer tailored assistance that addresses practical needs and emotional well-being. By providing a holistic approach, we empower individuals to address the root causes of their challenges and make meaningful progress toward self-sufficiency.

Safe Spaces and Therapeutic Communities: BOSS operates transitional and supportive housing programs beyond providing a roof over one's head. BOSS’s programs, such as CTEC (Career Training & Employment Center), emergency and permanent supported housing programs, the soon-to-open Wellness & Empowerment Campus, and more, promote healing, personal growth, and a sense of belonging, where individuals can access counseling, peer support, and group therapy sessions, creating opportunities for personal reflection, emotional expression, and the development of vital coping mechanisms.

Community Engagement and Awareness:

With events such as our Mental Health & Wellness Block Party and the Black August Block Party, BOSS actively collaborates with local organizations, mental health advocates, and community members to raise awareness and reduce the stigma associated with mental health challenges. We strive to create an environment where individuals feel comfortable seeking help and accessing the resources they need to thrive.

Call to Action: Supporting BOSS makes a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families facing deep poverty and systemic inequity.
