Oakland & the World Enterprises (OAW) and McCormack Baron Salazar (MBS), co-developers/co-owners of a new, affordable housing complex at 7th and Campbell Streets in West Oakland. The 7th & Campbell LP, began their diversity and equity outreach for construction subcontractors last week.
Elaine Brown, CEO of OAW said their goal is to offer real opportunities to black and minority contractors who have been systematically denied due to systemic racism.
This project involves construction of a 79-unit, 100% affordable housing complex, with rentals to people with in comes at or below 30% AMI, or, to very low and extremely low-income people. The complex will provide supportive services for chronically homeless and special needs residents with on-site solar. The plans call for a fitness center, a neighborhood market, restaurant and light manufacturing/ retail clothing. Once complete, BOSS will provide on-site support services to residents.
