Introducing Dr. Nichole Pettway: A Journey from Adversity to Advocacy

We welcome Dr. Nichole Pettway as the new Deputy Director of BOSS' Wellness Empowerment & Resiliency Campus (WERC) and Trauma Recovery Center (TRC). Dr. Pettway's life story is a testament to resilience, transformation, and unwavering commitment to community healing.

Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, Dr. Pettway faced significant challenges, including addiction and incarceration. Determined to change her trajectory, she earned her GED and pursued higher education, obtaining degrees from City College of San Francisco and the University of Phoenix. She holds a clinical master's degree as a marriage and family therapist and was recently awarded an honorary doctorate in humanities.

Dr. Pettway's professional journey includes serving as the Program Manager of Social Medicine at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, where she connected patients with resources addressing social determinants of health. She also founded the Building Bridges Foundation, supporting formerly incarcerated individuals reintegrating into society.
In her new role at BOSS, Dr. Pettway will oversee the development and implementation of holistic wellness and resilience programs, contribute to strategic planning and community engagement, and ensure the delivery of effective trauma recovery services.

Dr. Pettway's lived experience and professional expertise uniquely position her to lead initiatives that foster healing and empowerment. Her memoir, "Against All Odds: A Triumphant Journey from Addiction and Incarceration," further illustrates her dedication to inspiring others through her story.
Dr. Pettway’s path reminds us that healing and justice are not endpoints—they’re commitments we carry forward.
