This May, in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, BOSS will host two community-centered Mental Wealth Block Parties — one in Oakland and one in Hayward — designed to connect families to real resources, real support, and real opportunities.

Across Alameda County, thousands of individuals interact with BOSS programs each year for housing navigation, violence intervention, workforce development, reentry support, and trauma recovery services. The Mental Wealth Block Parties bring those resources directly into community spaces — removing barriers and creating connection.

Mental health challenges do not exist in isolation. They are shaped by housing instability, economic pressure, exposure to violence, and systemic inequities.

The Mental Wealth Block Parties provide:

• On-site mental health consultations and referrals
• Housing and employment resources
• Violence prevention and trauma-informed services
• Wellness activities and community healing spaces
• Access to trusted providers in a welcoming environment

These events are free and open to the public. They are designed to meet people where they are. When services are delivered in community, outside of clinical settings, engagement increases, and stigma decreases. That is the strategy.​
