CARES Navigation Center

The CARES Navigation Center is an innovative initiative launched by Building Opportunities for Self-Sufficiency (BOSS) in collaboration with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. We aim to facilitate the successful reintegration of individuals who have faced legal challenges. By removing barriers and providing essential services, we help our program participants rebuild their lives. This new BOSS program, which began in September, is dedicated to serving 300 individuals over a 36-month grant period. We are committed to offering them the support and resources they need for a fresh start.

To be eligible for the CARES Diversion Program, individuals must meet specific criteria:

  • Detained or arrested for a qualifying misdemeanor offense.

  • Displaying symptoms of a mental health and/or substance use disorder.

  • Not meeting WIC 5150 criteria and/or requiring an involuntary psychiatric hold.

  • Capable of interacting safely with others in a group or milieu setting.

  • Not experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency requiring immediate medical clearance.

  • Cooperative with basic instructions and orders.
