Social Justice Policy and Advocacy

Social justice calls for participation in community decision-making by everyone who lives in that community, whatever th eir age, income, disability, race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, or life experience.

We at BOSS believe that policies created to support homeless people must be developed with input from the people affected. We have spent over three decades encouraging and including homeless people at decision-making tables whenever possible.

Our social justice efforts are designed to affect the root causes of homelessness as well as improve the quality and availability of assistance for people now experiencing it.

Locally and nationally, the aim of our social justice organizing is to teach homeless people that they can and should have a voice in decision-making that affects their lives, and to secure increased access to resources needed to lift people out of poverty—affordable housing, transportation, child care, health care, education, job training, and more.
