Take Action

There will always be people who experience temporary homelessness as a result of health or financial crises. However, the crisis of mass homelessness—thousands of families and individuals homeless every day across the country—was created by the dramatic reduction in federal housing assistance over the last four decades combined with public policy decisions that reduced poor people’s access to health care and quality education.

It is possible to solve mass homelessness with a renewed commitment to affordable housing and higher prioritizing of health and human services in our communities.

You can make a difference in this work—take action today!

Fighting the root causes of homelessness

In addition to providing housing and direct assistance to homeless people, BOSS engages in community education, advocacy, and organizing throughout the year on issues of social justice that affect our constituents. Campaigns include welfare rights work, fighting to protect affordable housing, protecting homeless people’s civil rights, advocating for adequate funding for health and human services, and more.
